The 2017 Small Press Expo

Custodi Exitus took a trip this weekend to Bethesda, MD for the 2017 Small Press Expo!

This was our first time attending the expo which showcases killer indie artists, comics, graphic novels and cartoons from around the world. It was so cool to walk the SPX floor and see so many different talent artists and we were drooling over so many of the bad ass prints, pins and books people were showcasing.

Needless to say we came back home broke but with plenty of awesome shit to hold us over till next year. We highly suggest if you are in the area to check out SPX next year!

The stellar standouts of SPX for us was getting to meet Gemma Correll. https://www.gemmacorrell.com/

And sitting in on a panel discussion for Emil Ferris.

While we were at SPX we actually got to meet Emil Ferris and she signed a copy of her beautiful first graphic novel, My Favorite Thing Is Monsters. She was so personable and it was definitely something I will remember for a long time. Check out some of the art from the book! It’s amazing what she can do with a Bic pen!

Her panel discussion was really interesting and I am so excited to see what she comes up with for her next graphic novel! I gotta appreciate someone who is really into monsters and horror movies! Her story is also super crazy, she had West Nile, was paralyzed and the entire first shipment of her book was lost at sea! Check out more info on the author here: https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/02/17/arts/design/first-emil-ferris-was-paralyzed-then-her-book-got-lost-at-sea.html

Sight For Sore Bones made for the “Crazy 4 Cult : 6 (NYC)” at Gallery 1988 in NYC. This gallery is amazing by the way!!! They have an IT collection up on their website now. Definitely check them out. Their gallery is in NYC and the work shown there is consistently sick!
