Thanksgiving has always been a day for wearing your stretchiest pants and sinking into the family couch to watch something good while fighting falling asleep from all of the turkey you just ate. These are a few of my favorite movies/shows to watch that are perfect for the holiday season.
Lord of the Rings
One of the best thing about the holidays is getting a good chunk of time off from work. I can’t imagine a better way to spend some of that time than to watch all of the Lord of the Rings movies with a bowl of popcorn and a pile of pillows. Better yet grab a copy of this Lord of The Rings unofficial cook book and eat like a hobbit this Thanksgiving. Just remember if you are going to eat like a hobbit be prepared to eat breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, than.. supper.
Dutch
This is a staple of Thanksgiving for my family. Along with the pecan pie, I always know that at some point someone will put this movie on. I think it’s the gruffness of Ed O’Neill makes this holiday movie a little more tolerable than most of them. I can’t sit through a lot of holiday movies, especially the Hallmark style ones, but Dutch is far from saccharine sweet style holiday movies.
Bobs Burgers
This show loves doing holiday episodes and they do not disappoint when it comes to Thanksgiving. Keep your eye out for this year’s Thanksgiving Episode coming out November 24th! In the meantime check out these other cranberry soaked episodes to get your digestive juices flowing.
Thanksgiving Episodes:
Season 3, Episode 5, An Indecent Thanksgiving Proposal
Season 4, Episode 5, Turkey in a Can
Season 5, Episode 4, Dawn of the Peck
Season 6, Episode 4, Gale Makin’ Bob a Sled
Season 7, Episode 6, The Quirk-ducers
Season 8 Episode 5, Thankshording
Season 9 Episode 7, I Bob Your Pardon
Star Wars
If you are the “rebel” of your family and get tired of arguing about politics with your parents for the 100th time, take a break and watch the rebel alliance for a while! Star Wars is a great movie marathon option that is perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas. With Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order coming out November 15th, you can watch the movie after Thanksgiving dinner and silently wish you were home playing your new game.
Want to impress the fam this year with a pie? Get a little fancy with the Le Creuset Star Wars Porg Stoneware Pie Dish!
Those are some of our favorites! What are some of your traditional marathons for the holiday season? Let us know in the comments below! Have a great Thanksgiving, please, please, please, don’t drink and drive on your holiday. I know this is a bummer but, Thanksgiving is the deadliest holiday on US roads. Over the last 5 years, over 800 people died in alcohol related crashes over the Thanksgiving holiday. Don’t be a boober, take a goddamn Uber.
