We know that 2019 – 2020 is going to have a lot of solid games, Doom Eternal, Cyberpunk, Outer Worlds. But what if you are looking for something in contrast with all of that? Check out this list of upcoming video games that are bound to cheer anyone up. Unless Dark Souls cheers you up, then this list might be a little too aggressively cutesy. Either way, sometimes it’s nice to take a break from hyper realism and relax in the sublimeness of a super chill game.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

You know when you are looking for a good brain bleach style game , the Nintendo Switch is a damn good place to start looking. After seeing the trailer for the remake of, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, we are looking forward to playing though this game. Just look at it! First off it’s a Zelda game, so I am already in, no matter what.

Secondly, the graphics are so cheerfully toylike and bright. It’s such a refreshing look to see something so stylized after playing a menagerie of super realistic games. Don’t get me wrong, survival horror is amazing too, but mixing it up with games like Zelda can act like a bubble bath for the brain.

The game almost has a diorama effect to it so it kind of makes me imagine I am getting a glimpse into this tiny little miniature world. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, is due to be released September 20th, 2019, so we will get to have our hands on this so soon!
Ooblets

The Ooblets game has recently popped up in gaming news because of the controversy around the developers deciding to exclusively have the game available on the Epic Game Store. I don’t really care about all that. You know what isn’t controversial? How fucking cute the characters are. The mushroom guy? Come on. How can you be mad at this little dude. Look at those wee legs! I bet he has to wobble to get around.

I don’t know if this falls under the idiom “there is no such thing as bad publicity” but Ooblets wasn’t even on my radar until I saw it start getting hounded for the Epic Store deal. I think that a lot of people will be in that boat too, so you never know this might end up getting the game out in front of a lot more people. Honestly, I would play this game anywhere because the character design is Kawaii as hell!
Animal Crossing, New Horizons for Nintendo Switch

Everyone has been waiting for Animal Crossing to come to the Switch and with a March 2020 release date, it’s going to be a long wait to get to finally play this game. A nice aspect of New Horizons will be the multiplayer option so you can con your better half into helping you get your village in tip top shape!
