David Fincher, The Director of Seven, Signed on to Direct World War Z 2. Sploosh!

Today it’s been confirmed that David Fincher is due to direct the sequel to the upcoming World War Z. If David Fincher’s name sounds kind of familiar it’s because he directed Gone Girl. Ha! That’s how you know the name. How lame do you feel… joking… He has done… a lot of notable movies. Prepare to get excited.

David Fincher directed Seven, Fight Club, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Social Network, Panic Room, Zodiac, Alien 3 etc. So yeah, Fincher signing on to this movie has just made the chances for it being legit to go up by 100%. I just splooshed all over myself.

The Zodiac is one of my all time favorite movies ever! EVER! If you haven’t seen this movie you really should. It is so good, it’s such a slow burning amazing movie. The two members of Custodi Exitus actually watched this movie in theater together and bonded like crazy over how amazing it was. The scene where the couple gets killed at the lake… Wow. Just watch it.  I fell in love with the other half of Custodi Exitus while watching this movie.

I rolled my eyes when I heard they were going to make a WWZ sequel but now I have very high hopes!  Why did I initially have that reaction before hearing the director? While I don’t think the first World War Z was a terrible movie, I don’t remember feeling like it was compelling enough to warrant another film. The end of the first film definitely left room for the story to spill into anther movie. But eh. I wasn’t holding my breath to see more. UNTIL NOW.  I know a lot of people were anticipating the first film to be a let down because the book it was based on was so compelling. I have to say I was let down by WWZ the movie, it felt like it didn’t cover all of the varied stories that were in the book, but how could it?

The only stand out aspect of WWZ was in my opinion, the massive scale of the zombies. The hordes and waves of zombies flowing through the street was pretty awe inspiring. These hordes had to inspire the new DayZ Gone game in some way.

I am very giddy to see what comes of this new WWZ film. Production starts in the first quarter of 2018 so you are going to be waiting a while. We do have DayZ Gone to help hold us over, so for that we are grateful!

So what do you think? Year after year we are saturated with zombies ad nauseam. Can you muster up any enthusiasm for a World War Z 2? Do you think Gwyneth Paltrow will have her head end up in a box in this new film? Tell us about what you think on Twitter.com/custodiexitus. Happy Thursday!
