What We Do in the Shadows is an FX show that is based on the 2014 movie of the same name. The movie is definitely worth a viewing as well, so if you haven’t seen this cult classic, it’s worth your time. The geniuses behind the show and the movie is of course Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, known for their, Flight of the Concords fame. The comedic vampire TV show adaption follows a hodgepodge group of roommate vampires living in Staten Island. The cast is so funny and they all seem to mesh so well together! The show actually had me laughing out loud a couple of times at some of the bits, which is rare.

One of the things that really got me rooting for this show was the really really strong special effects! The projectile vomiting, the bats, glowing eyes in the dark, the beheading, its all done sooooo well, it makes the show even funnier that its so legit.  I don’t feel like a ton of comedy shows get a huge budget for creepy effects, but this is how it should be done.

And great news, if tvline.com is to be believed, the second season of this show is set to air on FX in April of this year. So now is the time to get caught up. Well, that is our choice for the watch of the week. What are you watching?  Let us know in the comments below!
